Butter turned 4 a week ago and this past Saturday we hosted a old fashioned birthday party. We served lots of kid friendly food, played all the stand-by games like pin the tail and hot potato. It was really fun. We also decorated pumpkins and used these awesome face painting pencils from Lyra. You can buy them here

So we are really focusing more on the rhythmn of our day. I've purged the playroom of almost all the plastic, save a grocery cart and a few plastic cars of Grumpy Kitty's. We didn't have a ton to start with, but more than I had realized. Last night was like a mini-Christmas since I ordered a bunch of stuff from Three Sisters Toys The kids only got a few new replacment things, but it was super fun. Today we used our beeswax during GK"s nap-time and Butter and I made a butterfly.
We also created a village with her magical figures with some of our old playsilks and GK's new bridge and the nesting houses. I did most of the set-up because I'm teaching B more about pretending. I love listening to her play. B is VERY social and matter-of-fact (just like her me) and I'm hoping that Waldorf will encourage what I know is there, but has a hard time developing in her. When I say, "Your such a snuggly bear, well I don't say that, but I'm so tired I can't think of things I make up right now, she will say, "Oh no I'm JUST Butter." Maybe this is typical, but she rarely, if ever, pretends to BE anything else. I don't want her to grow up too fast so right now we are focusing on LOTS of creative play.
We also welcomed a new niece this weekend!!! Rosemary Sarah was born on Friday night. She is the 4th girl in 5 generations. Butter was the 3rd and a HUGE surprise to everyone. Boys run deep. Rosemary is the little sister to to twin boys. Welcome sweet girl!
