Crafting always helps combat the listless days of winter. Down South things are not so depressing with a multitude of sunny days and warmer weather, but when the grass is dead and the trees are bare and several days of rain or gray skies come to stay, I find a dull feeling eroding my motivation. We are slowly finding a rhythm to our school days and crafting has become a key part of it agin. I'm more sure than ever that children need to work with their hands throughout the day, tell stories, and move around. We are working on the CORE subjects and Latin, but making sure there is adequate time for Doing.
For some time I've been wanting to get our nature table going again, but always found a reason why it wouldn't work here or there, etc. I decided for now, that our mantle was the perfect spot. So here is a bit of our seasonal mantle. Some crafting was done by Butter, she completed this detailed paper crafting book I purchased on clearance last January and gave as a part of our advent. We hung each of them on our Blessing/Jesse tree. It is fast becoming a seasonal tree for decoration.

We also have a winter book basket that the kids love picking from.

And we've begun making a window stars which is so fun. Butter and I did a bit of origami at Chirstmastime and I think this is even more fun and the way the lights catch. They sure brightened the playroom a bit. I can't wait to put them up throughout the house.
